Volkswagen Scirocco- original new old stock 1970s Manhattan Windsor keyring - collector's item

An original Volkswagen keyring which will have been produced in the 1970s.

We have just this one example of this keyring to offer – when this keyring has been sold this listing will be cancelled.

We have very recently sold an identical keyring which was in new old stock condition – this one is in very good condition but is not new old stock .

An original Volkswagen Scirocco keyring which will have been produced in the 1970s.

The keyring is in very good condition with a vitreous enamel badge in deep cobalt blue enamel mounted onto a keyfob in genuine black leather.

The cobalt blue enamel has been laid rather thinly in the central ‘O’ of ‘SCIROCCO ‘ .

This can be seen in the enlarged high resolution photos – not a ‘flaw’ as such ………….’old school’ vitreous enamelling was an art and differences of thickness of enamel could happen .

Additionally ( and hardly noticeable but best mentioned ) there is a tiny speck of nickel plating missing from the bottom tip of the 2nd ‘C’ of ‘SCIROCCO’ – this can also be seen in the enlarged listing photos .

The black leather keyfob is in excellent condition and looks hardly used .

Made by the famous Manhattan Windsor Co. of Birmingham ( sadly now closed for business) and dates from the late 1970s.

This keyring is only the 2nd complete Manhattan Windsor VW Scirocco keyring which we have ever seen over the years – very few can have been made.

We have seen 3 or 4 loose badges which we have sold remounted onto new leather keyfobs – but only a couple of complete keyring before.

Original & correct for 1973 – 1988 VW Scirocco Mk I – although there is no reason why it couldn’t be used in a Mk II or even one of the later cars !
