NOW SOLD – sorry this keyring has now been sold but has been left on view as an example of an original AC torpedo keyring
This keyring is only the 2nd one which we have listed over the last 10 years .
An original AC torpedo keyring dating from the 1960s and in really excellent condition.
The vitreous enamel badge is perfect apart from the usual micro-scratches on the surface of the nickel plating and is mounted onto a black torpedo keyfob.
The keyfob is in perfect condition apart from an unimportant ‘wrinkle’ in the leather at the top of the back of the keyfob.
Hidden beneath the badge is an unobtrusive staple which CUD often used to internally secure the base of the hinge holding the badge in place on the keyfob.
This keyring was made by the famous Castles Unit Development Co. of Church Gate in Leicester, England – their CUD initials are cast into the back of the badge.
Castles were among the first manufacturers of automotive keyrings and were well known for using this distinctive torpedo shape for their keyrings.
1960s CUD Jaguar torpedo keyrings in this condition now command prices well in excess of £1000 – so the price of this keyring must be considered very reasonable particularly as AC torpedo keyrings so rarely appear that Jaguar torpedos are commonplace in comparison !
The keyring in the photos is the actual one which you will receive.
When it has been sold this listing will be cancelled. 00/572 ( 00/052 ) 10/20
