Alfa Romeo – original vintage early 1970s keyring with acrylic dome badge

An Alfa Romeo keyring which we would think will have been produced in the early 1970s .

We have just this one example of this keyring to offer – when this keyring has been sold this listing will be cancelled .

This keyring is in very good condition with an acrylic dome badge mounted onto a keyfob in black imitation leather .

In 1972 Alfa Romeo changed it’s badge from Alfa Romeo Milano  to simply Alfa Romeo – a very convenient way of dating Alfa Romeo keyrings !

Keyrings with the Alfa Romeo Milano badge for pre-1972 cars are relatively scarce and consequently relatively valuable if in good condition .

Almost all that we have ever listed over the years have had vitreous enamel keyfob badges as you would expect of keyrings which are now over 50 years old .

This keyring is a rare exception as it has an acrylic dome badge – probably one of the first which will ever have been produced.

These badges were originally produced by Renamel of London and this keyring may well have been produced by them although other manufacturers soon followed suit .

Acrylic dome badges can never be compared to vitreous enamel badges but do have the very important quality of being far more resilient if dropped onto a hard surface – just look at the condition of the badge on this keyring !

Some manufacturers at the time were not very particular about updating badge designs to reflect manufacturer’s updates………………it is quite possible that the manufacturer of this keyring did not notice ( or couldn’t be bothered to notice ) that Alfa Romeo had dropped ‘Milano’ from their badge .

In which case the keyring could have been produced a year or two after 1972 .

Notwithstanding that observation this keyring is correct for use with pre-1972 Alfa Romeo cars.
