Alvis - original vintage 1970s vitreous enamel badge remounted onto a new leather keyfob

None of the Alvis badges on any of the keyrings offered for sale here in this website shop have been produced by us.

The keyring in this listing has an original vintage vitreous enamel Alvis keyfob badge which will have been produced over 40 years ago which we have remounted onto a new leather keyfob .

When this keyring with this badge has been sold this listing will be cancelled .

An original vitreous enamel Alvis keyfob badge which will have been produced in the 1970s which we have remounted onto a new keyfob in tan pigskin leather .

This badge is in mint condition apart from a flake of nickel plating having been lost from the left hand leg of the metal loop ( this can be seen in the enlarged listing photos and the price does take this into account ) and is very similar to modern reproduction badges but the golden sunburst ground beneath the enamel is less pronounced and the plated metal loop securing the badge to the leather keyfob is of a different ( slimmer ) design.

Additionally this badge is marked ‘MADE IN ENGLAND’ on the reverse whereas the reverse of the modern reproduction badges are plain .

It is known that Alvis did use pigskin leather for some keyrings in period ( in company with other manufacturers such as Jaguar & Aston Martin ) – so we have remounted this badge onto a pigskin leather keyfob .

Pigskin leather was ( and is ! ) an expensive material and seems to be no longer available in a suitable grade for keyring manufacture.

The small stock of pigskin leather which we have was sourced from a closed Midland factory some years ago – they had been using it for making gentleman’s wallets, keyrings and applying to the body of hip flasks .

The keyring in the photos is the actual one which you will receive.
