NOW SOLD – sorry this keyring has now been sold and can no longer be ordered
An original Alvis keyring – and one of only 3 or 4 Alvis pigskin keyrings which we have ever seen over the last 10 years- another of which in rather better condition is currently listed here in this website shop ( unless now sold )
The keyring is in well used condition and will date from the late 1950s.
The vitreous enamel badge is in excellent condition and is mounted onto a genuine tan pigskin keyfob which has taken on a polished appearance as a result of much use.
Where the splitring is fitted through the top of the pigskin keyfob there is some wear to the pigskin .
This appears to be OK for light continued use of the keyring but the leather will eventually split in this area if the keyring continues in daily use.
This keyring should be regarded as a collector’s item or for Sunday use only !
We know from long experience that it is not every customer who seeks mint perfection in a 50+ year old keyring – those customers will not be disappointed with this keyring !
Pigskin was ( and is ) a most upmarket material and rarely used for keyfobs apart from occasional keyrings commissioned by Aston Martin.
The badge will almost certainly have been made by Castles Unit Development Co. of Church Gate Leicester ( CUD) but will in all probability have been mounted onto the pigskin keyfob by another keyring manufacturer at the time – possibly AE Wassell of Birmingham.
The keyring in the photos is the actual one which you will receive.
When it has been sold this listing will be cancelled. 59/92 06/20
