A very rare item – and only the 2nd one which we have ever seen.
An original Aston Martin key wallet which we would date as having been manufactured in the late 1960s – Aston Martin did very occasionally use pigskin for keyrings in the 1960s .
The wallet measures 3″ x 1.75″ ( 75mm x 45mm ) closed.
Opened up it measures almost 5″ x 3″ ( 125mm x 75mm)
It is in very good serviceable condition but has seen considerable use as can be seen from the photos.
The vitreous enamel winged badge has some enamel loss as can be seen in the high resolution enlarged photos- but viewed at life size this is not particularly noticeable due to the complexity of the badge design with the white enamel divided into small segments.
One of the black plastic covers on the press studs which close the wallet is missing- this could be rectified by removing the other one – but we will leave this to you !
The press studs ( poppers) both snap shut with precision as they should.
The 4 key hooks within the wallet are in excellent condition and are as strongly mounted to the leather case as they were when new.
The case itself is in black pigskin – a most upmarket material reserved for keyrings and obviously key wallets for the most prestige marques.
The pigskin is beautifully supple and patinated as only pigskin which has had many years of use can become.
The pigskin on the outside of the case has become silky smooth through use – the fingers just glide over it…………………you get the clue that we are leather enthusiasts !
If your idea of a key wallet is brand new perfection – then this item is not for you.
However if you appreciate a genuine original item with the patination of years and years of careful use over untold thousands upon thousands of miles – then this item could be for you.
The key wallet in the photos is the actual one which you will receive.
When it has been sold this listing will be cancelled.
