An original Austin Healey torpedo keyring dating from the 1950s – this is one of the most important keyrings which we have ever listed for Austin Healey and is only the 3rd example which we have ever seen over the last 10 years.
Made by Castles Unit Developments of Church Gate Leicester – the torpedo keyring was the keyring which defined them and has become the most sought after vintage automotive keyring .
The keyring is in really excellent condition – and it is 60 years old !
The vitreous enamel badge appears to be perfect when viewed at life size with the naked eye.
The enlarged high resolution listing photos reveal a slight loss of nickel plating at the top of the left hand wing .
Apart from that we would rate this keyring as being in almost new old stock condition – quite remarkable after 60 years.
The leather torpedo keyfob is in excellent shape with good tight stitching and a well fitted eyelet.
This keyring is original & correct for use with 1953-1956 Austin Healey 100, 1956- 1959 100/6 and early Mk I & Mk II 3000 – also Mk I Sprite.
Adding an original keyring like this one to one of the above cars can only enhance the already high value of that car.
This keyring came from a collection earlier last year – and in order to have keyrings like this one listed here in our website shop we have to pay accordingly – this is reflected in the price which the keyring is listed at.
If this was a 1950s CUD Jaguar torpedo keyring in this condition then the value would be well over £1000 – see examples of them in Bud Marston’s book on Vintage Jaguar keyrings featured in the Jaguar section of this website shop.
The keyring in the photos is the actual one which you will receive and is possibly the only one which will come to market in the foreseeable future- if any others still exist in this condition.
When it has been sold this listing will be cancelled.
