NOW SOLD – sorry this keyring has now been sold and can no longer be ordered
We have just one of these original Austin Healey Sprite keyrings to offer which is in very good condition.
This is an original keyring which will have been made in Birmingham in the 1970s – before automotive keyrings started to be made in The Far East.
At that time there were many Sprites still on the roads being used as daily transport and there was still a market for the keyrings to be used in the cars.
The badge is in vitreous enamel – whereas most Far Eastern keyrings nowadays have modern resin ( plastic) enamel badges.
The badge is mounted onto a black keyfob which has the genuine leather symbol plainly gold-embossed on the back …………………..but the keyfob is not genuine leather !
It is in imitation leather. Trades descriptions legislation was virtually non-existent in the 1970s and keyrings produced at that time were often marked as leather although being made in imitation leather.
Having said that these imitation leather keyrings often gave better service than keyrings made out of the leather which was being used for making keyrings out of at that time.
This is a rare original example of the type of keyrings which were often being used in Austin Healey Sprites in the 1970s.
The keyring in the photos is the actual one which you will receive.
When it has been sold this listing will be cancelled. 59/81 01/20
