Austin – original new old stock l950s leather key wallet – collector’s item

The Austin key wallet in this listing is an original vintage item which we would think will have been produced in the 1950s .

We have just this one key wallet to offer – when this key wallet has been sold this listing will be cancelled.

This Austin key wallet is in brand new old stock condition and will be well over 60 years old !

It is the only Austin example which we have ever seen & listed over the years .

Probably made by Heath Machin & Co. of Walsall  who marketed these car key wallets at the time and produced when car keyrings were just making an appearance in the mid to late 1950s .

The wallet is in dark tan genuine leather with gold embossed ‘flying A’ together with the details of the Garage which issued it .

In the closed position ( which is how the wallet would be used ) the wallet is hardly bigger than a large keyring and the ignition key would be safely nestled within the wallet and is actually a rather better thing to keep in the pocket than a keyring with a bunch of keys jangling around .

The wallet would then be opened up and the ignition key retained on one of the hooks within the wallet would be swung out and the wallet would then be closed.

The ignition key would then be used as normal with the wallet dangling from it .

The wallet measures approximately 4″ x 2.50″ ( 100mm x 65mm ) closed.

Opened up it measures approximately 5″ x 4″ ( 125mm x 100mm )

The press stud ( popper ) snaps shut with precision to close & secure the wallet as it should.

The 6 key hooks within the wallet are strongly mounted onto the leather case.
