NOW SOLD – sorry this keyring has now been sold and can no longer be ordered
An original Austin keyring which will date from the mid 1950s – this is a very rare example of the first keyrings which were available for Austin cars .
Keyrings for cars only appeared very sparingly in the mid 1950s and did not become generally available until the late 1950s and early 1960s.
This is the only example which we have ever seen and listed for Austin.
The keyring is in excellent condition with the vitreous enamel badge being in good condition but the nickel plating on the badge has a few flaws where the underlying copper base metal is shining through – this can be seen in the enlarged high resolution listing photos but cannot really be seen when viewed at life size with the naked eye.
The legs of the sprung clip on the back of the keyring can be nipped together with the fingers ( you need to exert some pressure to overcome the spring in the steel ! ) so that the clip can be removed in order to slip a key or a couple of keys onto the keyring.
The keyring in the photos is the actual one which you will receive.
When it has been sold this listing will be cancelled. 59/43 12/20
