We are not licensed by BMW to reproduce the BMW logo and none of the keyrings listed here for sale in this website shop feature BMW keyfob badges with the BMW logo which have been made by us.
This is an original vintage keyring which was made in the late 1950s or early 1960s.
We have always really struggled to find original examples of BMW motorcycle keyrings.
We have hardly had any to list over the years and those few that do appear are generally in poor condition having led an active life on open motorcycles in all weathers which Northern Europe can deliver.
No keyrings seem to have been supplied by BMW themselves and it was left to a couple of small concerns in UK to produce a few keyrings for the marque at the time.
One of those small concerns was AE Wassell of Birmingham who made this keyring.
Wassells have left no trace of their existence apart from motorcycle keyrings for various marques which crop up from time to time.
They produced keyrings during the period from late 1950s until the 1960s and their motorcycle keyrings were physically small as compared to the equivalent keyrings being produced for motor cars at the time- more in keeping with the smaller size of keyring which is appropriate to use on a motorcycle.
This keyring is in excellent condition with a vitreous enamel badge mounted onto a black keyfob .
Having said that- the standard of manufacture is rather primitive – but that is how these keyrings were.
The vitreous enamel badge has excellent enamelling but the plating is rather grainy ( which doesn’t matter so far as durability is concerned – just a cosmetic thing which stands out in our modern age of machine made perfection )
The keyfob is in faux leather ( more appropriate for a motorcycle keyring as leather gets rather soggy when used in wet conditions )
This is a very rare original example of the keyrings which were actually used on BMW bikes in the 1960s and is original & correct for any 1960s BMW motorcycle.
Goodness knows when or if we will ever see another one like this as this is only the 2nd example which we have ever seen & listed over the last 10 years.
The keyring in the photos is the actual one which you will receive.
When it has been sold this listing will cancel.
