BMW – original 1970s vitreous enamel on gilt BMW Motorsport badge remounted onto a new leather keyfob – collector’s item

The keyring in this listing has an original vintage BMW keyfob badge which will have been produced over 40 years ago .

We are offering just this one keyring with this badge – when this keyring has been sold this listing will be cancelled .

We very rarely – if ever – describe a keyring with a badge which has been remounted onto a new leather keyfob like this one as a ‘collector’s item’ .

However the keyfob badge mounted onto this new leather keyfob is so significant that it has to be described as such .

Dealing with car keyrings day-in-and-day-out a keyfob badge seldom raises our pulse………………..but this one did when it first appeared !

This is the earliest BMW Motorsport keyfob badge which we have ever seen and listed – we would think that it dates from the 1970s .

It is in really superb condition with jewellery quality vitreous enamelling and an early gilt plated finish .

Over the years the gilt plating has mellowed ( as it always does ) to give a lovely soft ‘ antique gold ‘ appearance – what a lovely badge this is .

‘ MADE IN ENGLAND’ marked on the reverse of the badge – in the 1970s almost all keyrings for the world’s cars were still being made in England – it was quite an industry .

We would think that this badge will have been produced by a small vitreous enamelling badgemaking concern in Birmingham at the time .

There were many of them in the 1960s and early 1970s but very few survived into the 1980s .

We have remounted the badge onto a new keyfob in a specially selected swatch of full grain black leather – only the best would do for this badge .

Additionally we have fitted a splitring in an antique bronze finish to match the gilt finish on the badge .

A superb keyring which we know will be bought for use in a similarly superb car .
