BMW – original vintage late 1960s/ 1970s ? key case with key – collector’s item

The BMW key case in this listing is an original vintage item which we would think will have been produced in the 1960s or early 1970s.

We have just this one key case to offer – when this key case has been sold this listing will be cancelled.

A very rare item – this is the only the 2nd BMW keycase which we have ever listed .

We have previously listed original BMW key wallets but this key case will have been produced slightly earlier than the key wallets and is of a different design .

Apart from the key wallets and the one key case which we have listed in the past – we have also seen other examples in poor condition which suggests that BMW owners used the key wallets and cases on a daily basis at the time with the result that very few have survived .

We have dated this keycase to the 1960s or early 1970s but would think that it is more likely to be 1960s .

It is no bigger than a keyring and the ignition key is safely nestled within the case and is actually a rather better thing to keep in the pocket than a keyring with a bunch of keys jangling around .

The key case is in genuine black leather and is in very good condition with ‘ BMW’ embossed into the leather .

The BMW ignition key still within the key case is also in very good condition .

The threaded brass pin onto which the key attaches is in excellent condition and screws and unscrews as it should and the press stud ( popper ) which closes the key case pops shut and opens again with precision .

The ignition key is attached to the brass pin which can be unscrewed to allow the key to be fitted  ( see the photo of the brass pin released from the leather case )

When in use with the key in the car ignition the keycase hangs down from the key – like a keyring .

When not in use the ignition key can be folded inside the keycase for safe keeping .

The main body of the case measures approximately just 2.75″ x 1.25″ ( 70mm x 30mm )
