BMW – original vintage new old stock? 1990s dealership keyring

The keyring in this listing is an original vintage BMW keyring which will have been produced around 25 years ago .

We have just this one BMW dealership keyring in this superb condition to offer – when it has been sold this listing will be cancelled.

This keyring is in really excellent condition and is the first one we have listed in this condition for quite some time .

The jewellery grade vitreous enamel badge is mounted onto a keyfob in genuine black leather of a generous thickness .

We would think that this keyring will be new old stock – it is showing no signs of having ever been used apart from a wrinkle in the leather on the reverse of the leather keyfob – although genuine leather keyfobs like this one can have wrinkles in the leather even when unused .

Examples of these keyrings do occasionally appear on internet auction sites but are almost always in well used condition  – BMWs are ‘driver’s cars ‘ and  these keyrings tended to be used on a daily basis and the vitreous enamel badges almost always have chips in the enamel around the edge of the badge and the leather keyfobs will be showing signs of wear .

These are the keyrings which were supplied with the top of the range cars which BMW had in it’s 1980s & 1990s line up.

These keyrings were almost certainly produced by Manhattan Windsor of Birmingham – some were produced with their name on the back of the badges but most were unmarked like this example – most probably because BMW specified that they be left plain .

Manhattan Windsor were the premier manufacturer of quality automotive keyrings in the 1990s and the quality of their products has never been bettered before or since – sadly they closed their doors some years ago.

A superb quality keyring which any BMW salesperson would have been proud to hand over with a new car – ‘generous’ salespersons often handed a couple of these keyrings over with a new car ………..one of these tended to be used whilst the other ‘spare’ one finished up at the back of the glovebox .

This is probably the one that lived in the glovebox.

These keyrings exhibit the level of quality which British manufacturers were capable of producing before many automotive keyrings later became mass produced throw -away items with plastic resin badges mounted onto imitation leather keyfobs .
