We have just this one original Corvette Stingray torpedo keyring with a green vitreous enamel badge to offer .
This is an original new old stock item which was produced in the 1960s and is in mint condition.
It has been in storage since it was produced over 50 years ago .
The vitreous enamel badge is mounted onto a torpedo keyfob in genuine leather gold embossed ‘ REAL MOROCCO – MADE IN ENGLAND ‘
‘Morocco’ was a term used for goatskin and the pebbly grain of the genuine goatskin can be clearly seen in the listing photos.
Goatskin was ideal for making keyfobs on account of it’s durability and fine textured appearance – these things were known all those years ago and the craft of leatherworking and the materials used has almost sadly been forgotten in this digital age.
The keyring was made at the time by a firm known as ‘Craftsman’ who were originally Castles Unit Developments of Church Gate, Leicester England- the famous CUD Company who pioneered the torpedo keyfob shape.
In the early 1960s almost all automotive keyrings and keyfob badges for the world’s cars were produced in England – it was quite an industry.
No records survive – but it is thought that Castles ( the famous CUD keyring Co. ) later became Craftsman and an American connection is rumoured but has so far not been substantiated.
It may be that these Craftsman keyrings were actually produced in Brooklyn USA- particularly those for American cars like this Corvette Stingray one.
This keyring is original & correct for 1963 onwards Chevrolet Corvette Stingray.
The keyring in the photos is the actual one which you will receive.
When it has been sold this listing will be cancelled.
