Cobra – original 1960s vitreous enamel on gilt badge remounted onto a new leather keyfob

An original Cobra keyfob badge which will have been produced in the 1960s which we have remounted onto a new leather keyfob as can be seen in the photos .

We have just this one keyring with this badge to offer – when it has been sold this listing will be cancelled.

Original 1960s Cobra keyfob badges are scarce items – we have listed very few over the years.

This original vitreous enamel badge is in very good condition although there is some dark staining beneath the red translucent enamel at the base of the badge .

This commonly happens with badges of this age with translucent enamel as the ground beneath the enamel can be plainly seen through the translucent enamel.

If the enamel had been in a solid colour then the staining beneath the enamel would not have been visible .

Importantly – the vitreous enamel is in excellent condition with no enamel chips or cracks in the enamel .

The gilt plating has mellowed over the years to give a soft ‘ antique gold ‘ appearance – this almost always happens with this old gilt plating …………this badge really does look it’s age !

‘ MADE IN ENGLAND’ marked on the back of the badge – almost all keyrings and keyfob badges for the world’s cars were made in England in the 1960s – it was quite an industry .
