Ferrari - original vintage early 1970s keyring - collector's item

1 in stock

We are not licensed by Ferrari to reproduce any of their logos and none of the keyrings listed here for sale in this website shop feature Ferrari keyfob badges which have been made by us.

The keyring in this listing is an original keyring which will have been produced in the early 1970s .

This is only the 2nd example of this original Ferrari keyring which we have ever seen and listed over the last 10 years – a very rare item.

The keyring is in excellent condition with a vitreous enamel badge mounted onto a keyfob in genuine black leather .

The vitreous enamel badge is in almost mint condition – not a mark on it.

This is quite remarkable for a badge on a 45 + year old keyring which has been used.

The thin black leather keyfob is in good condition and has become polished with use.

On the back of the leather keyfob are 2 tiny indents which are not particularly noticeable but best mentioned.

The keyfob has been made in the Italian Ferrari style – the leather is bonded together rather than having been stitched.

This is curious as the keyring is most certainly English made- possibly Ferrari actually ordered these keyrings from an English maker & dictated how they should be made.

The badge is marked ‘MADE IN ENGLAND’ and the back of the leather keyfob has been gold embossed ‘REAL LEATHER – MADE IN ENGLAND ‘ – although the embossing is now very faint and can only just be made out.

In the early 1970s most Ferrari keyrings ( other than those few being produced by Ferrari themselves at the time ) were made in England.

Most keyrings for other European makes of car were also produced in England at that time – it was quite an industry.

This keyring will most likely have been made in Birmingham in the jewellery quarter in the early 1970s.

The badge is very similar to the few that we are currently listing remounted onto new leather keyfobs ( unless all have now been sold ) although this badge is slightly more pointed and has ‘MADE IN ENGLAND’ represented differently on the back of the badge.

‘SF’ on the badge stands for ‘Scuderia Ferrari’.  Scuderia is ‘ a stable for racing horses ‘- Scuderia being Ferrari’s Racing team division.

The values of original Ferrari keyrings continue to rise – finding original Ferrari keyrings in this condition for listing in this website shop is now becoming very difficult.

The keyring which you will receive is the actual one in the photos.

When this keyring has been sold this listing will be cancelled.
