We are not licensed by Ferrari to reproduce any of their logos and none of the keyrings listed here for sale in this website shop feature Ferrari keyfob badges which have been made by us.
The keyrings in this listing have original badges which date from the late 1960s or early 1970s which we have refurbished.
We have just a few of these rare original Ferrari keyfob badges to offer remounted onto new keyfobs in full grain leather as can be seen in the photos.
These must be the best Ferrari keyrings which we have ever offered.
We are offering the badges mounted onto keyfobs in black, red and London tan leather – which are the leather colours which Ferrari used for keyrings – and also tobacco which is the colour that Ferrari’s tan leather darkened to after many years of use.
The edge of the keyrings has been burnished and finished in a polished black finish – just as Ferrari finished their own keyrings.
The badges are new old stock and had been in storage for almost 50 years – so we have had them re-enamelled in ‘old school’ vitreous enamel and then replated & polished by our badgemaker to produce the superb finish which they are now presented in – just look at the photos.
The badges were made in the very late 1960s or very early 1970s by Melsom Products Ltd of Birmingham.
These badges came to us out of storage and may be the very last batch which Melsom Products Ltd ever produced before closing for business in the early 1970s.
More may come to light in the future as a young lady whose grandfather had a leather business in Walsall and mounted Melsom’s badges onto leather keyfobs has recently made contact with us.
In the late 1960s most automotive keyrings for British & European cars were made in England by just a few manufacturers – of which Melsom Products had become the largest with the demise of Castles Unit Development Co ( CUD ) .
Ferrari motor cars have always been rare on UK roads with the result that very few keyrings were made for Ferrari at the time ( Ferrari themselves do not appear to have had their own keyrings made until slightly later – by Schedoni )
CUD had made a few Ferrari torpedo keyrings in the late 1950s & early 1960s and then it seems Melsom Products of Birmingham made a small batch in the 1960s – we have listed just a couple of these over the last 10 years.
When all these refurbished badges have been mounted and sold – then this listing will be cancelled.
