The key wallets in this listing are original vintage Ford Mustang key wallets which will have been produced over 40 years ago.

Quite a rarity,  and these are the only ones which we have ever seen – original Ford Mustang key wallets dating from the late 1960s or early 1970s – and we have just 4 to offer.

These key wallets are new old stock and are in excellent condition.

The vitreous enamel badges are mounted onto genuine leather wallets embossed ‘Genuine Leather – Made in England’

The wallet opens with a press stud to reveal 4 sprung steel hooks for securing keys.

In the closed position ( which is how the wallet would be used ) the wallet is hardly bigger than a keyring and the ignition key would be safely nestled within the wallet and is actually a rather better thing to keep in the pocket than a keyring with a bunch of keys jangling around .

The wallet would then be opened and the ignition key retained on one of the hooks within the wallet would be swung out and the wallet would then be closed.

The ignition key would then be used as normal with the little wallet dangling from it .

Key wallets were popular items in the 1960s & 1970s and were made for many makes of car – very few will have survived .

No well equipped Ford Mustang owner would have been seen without one of these at the time !

This is the ultimate period accessory for that perfect car which has everything- or could be used with a more recent car as a ‘retro’ accessory.

Made by the very well known Melsom Products Ltd of Birmingham who also made keyrings for cars.

In the 1960s & 1970s almost all keyrings etc for the world’s cars were made in England – it was quite an industry.
