Ford – original vintage 1960s red top shield Melsom keyflix keyring with tan leather keyfob

This is an original keyring which will have been produced around over 50 years ago .

This keyring was made by Melsom Products Ltd of Birmingham who were one of the main UK manufacturers of automotive keyrings .

At that time almost all keyrings for the world’s cars were made in Birmingham – it was quite an industry.

The keyring is in excellent condition for it’s age with a vitreous enamel badge mounted onto a keyfob in genuine tan leather .

The enamel badge is in mint condition whilst the leather keyfob ( with Melsom’s trademark ‘keyflix’ embossed into the leather beneath the badge ) is also in excellent condition and has become polished with use – very attractive .

The logo featured on these badges is particularly relevant for Ford motor cars of the period .

Original keyrings like this one are quite rare as they were used on a daily basis at the time and the leather keyfobs eventually wore out and the keyring was discarded.
