NOW SOLD – Sorry this keyring has now been sold and can no longer be ordered
Over the last 10 years we have listed a couple of the much later Jaguar Driver’s Club keyrings with the miniature steering wheel & raised 3D growler head badge – but never before one of these much earlier examples- and what a superb example it is.
This is the only early example which we have ever seen and listed over the last 10 years.
The Jaguar Driver’s Club was formed in 1956 and we would think that this keyring will date from the 1960s.
This keyring is in the condition that we like to find a 50 year old keyring in :- with no defects but nicely patinated as a result of many years and very many thousands of miles of careful use.
This is something which only results from age & use – it is not something which can ever be reproduced artificially.
The vitreous enamel badge is in very good condition with no enamel chips and displaying just micro-abrasion to the surface of the nickel plating as would be expected.
There is a tiny dark indent or ‘bump’ in the vitreous enamel at 10 o’clock on the face of the badge – this may well have been present since the badge was new.
The badge is mounted onto a genuine black leather keyfob which is in very good condition with good tight stitching and nicely supple and worn in like a comfortable pair of shoes .
There is an example of this very keyring shown in Bud Marston’s ‘Vintage Jaguar keyrings’ book featured at the beginning of the Jaguar section in this website shop.
An original early Jaguar Driver’s Club keyring like this one is much rarer than examples of the keenly sought after Jaguar CUD torpedo keyrings which now routinely sell for anywhere from £800 -£1000 each if in good condition .
In comparison this keyring should be regarded as quite a bargain .
The keyring in the photos is the actual one which you will receive.
When it has been sold this listing will be cancelled. 00/573 11/19
