Jaguar-E Type – original vintage early 1970s US market leaper ‘Trend ‘ keyring with ochre yellow vitreous enamel badge – collector’s item

NOW SOLD – sorry this keyring has now been sold and can no longer be ordered

An original Jaguar E Type keyring which will have been produced in the very late 1960s or early 1970s .

We have just this one example of this original keyring to offer  -when this keyring has been sold this listing will be cancelled .

This keyring does have a split in the leather which is described below and shown in the listing photographs .

As a result of this we regard the keyring as only suitable for light & occasional ‘ Sunday afternoon ‘ use in a car or as an important collector’s item in a keyring collection .

Despite the split in the leather this is an important example of a very rare Jaguar keyring .

This original US market Jaguar leaper keyring is the only one which we have ever listed apart from 2 or 3 loose original badges which have been listed and sold remounted onto new leather keyfobs ( one currently listed unless now sold )

The vitreous enamel badge in ochre yellow and black vitreous enamel is mounted onto a keyfob in genuine black leather gold embossed ‘ TREND’ made in England.

The vitreous enamel badge is in very good condition as can be seen in the photos .

The leather keyfob is in good general condition and has become polished with age and use but does have a split in the leather where the splitring is fitted .

We have photographed this as best we can and please see our comments above regarding the suitability of this keyring for use in a car .

We have seen keyrings for other makes of car embossed ‘Trend ‘ but have never found out who they actually were .

This badge was among the first to feature the now famous Jaguar Leaper image and the layout of these badges has to be a triumph of design with the ascending font and dramatic leaper set against a background of solid black enamel .

‘MADE IN ENGLAND’ cast into the reverse of the badge .

This keyring will have been produced in Birmingham destined for use with Jaguar E-types bound for the American market .

At that time almost all keyrings for the world’s cars were made in England .

So far as we are aware the original keyfob badges were only produced in this ( very 1970s ) yellow ochre enamel colour .

Badges offered in other enamel colours are unlikely to be originals .

An original keyring with this ochre badge is photographed and described in Bud Marston’s ‘Vintage Jaguar keyrings’ book featured at the beginning of our Jaguar section in this website shop .

Bud is unsure whether these keyrings were provided with the cars by Jaguar themselves or distributed through North American Jaguar dealerships .

The keyring in the photos is the actual one which you will receive. SMOSO  00/543     09/24
