Jaguar - original 1960s Polco badge remounted onto dark tan vintage pigskin keyfob

NOW SOLD – Sorry this keyring has now been sold and can no longer be ordered

This original Jaguar Polco keyfob badge dates from the 1960s and is in exceptionally good condition.

The badge is in vitreous enamel and was made by ‘Polco’ which stood for ‘The Pool Clock Company’ who were located at 90 Aldersgate St. London EC1 in the early 1960s.

So far as we know they only made keyrings for a very short time.

As is often the case with a 50+ year old badge – the original leather fob was beyond repair so we are offering the badge mounted onto a new leather keyfob as can be seen in the photos.

Not just any new leather keyfob though……………………we are fortunate to have just one hide of vintage pigskin which is as old as the badge itself !

This was in a local saddler’s shop and we bought it some years back when the saddler retired and the shop sadly closed.

We use this leather for certain ‘special’ jobs – and this badge seemed as special as any so has been mounted onto a keyfob in this vintage pigskin.

Rather than use a new splitring – we have selected an original 50 year old nickel plated ‘diamond cut’ splitring to complete the item as authentically as is possible.

We have only seen a few examples of these badges over the years – some are featured in Bud Marston’s book – Vintage Jaguar Keyrings together with other examples still mounted onto their original keyfobs.

One of Bud’s original examples was actually supplied by us for his photographer – we are credited for this on that page in the book.

This is a superb example of an original early Jaguar keyfob badge now remounted sensitively but robustly – and one of the few vintage keyrings which could now be put into daily use without fear of spoiling. In fact using the keyring can only improve the appearance as the pigskin will begin to take on a patina which can only develop with a combination of use and the passage of time.

The keyring in the photos is the actual one which you will receive and probably showcases what we are best at – remounting original 20th Century keyfob badges so that they can continue to be used into the 21st Century.

When this keyring has been sold this listing will be cancelled. 00/523 (00/572 )
