Original Vintage & Restored Leather Keyrings for Classic Cars & Motorcycles

Jaguar – original vintage 1950s ‘T-Bone’ badge remounted onto an original ( damaged ) period leather keyfob

NOW SOLD – sorry this keyring has now been sold and can no longer be ordered

An original vintage Jaguar keyfob badge which will have been produced in the late 1950s or possibly early 1960s which has been remounted onto a new handmade & handstitched leather keyfob probably by the owner many years ago.

When this keyring has been sold this listing will be cancelled.

A very rare original Jaguar keyfob badge …………and actually the one featured on the cover of Bud Marston’s ‘Vintage Jaguar Keyrings’ book which is shown at the beginning of our Jaguar section here in this website shop.

Bud describes this badge in his book and describes it as ‘exceedingly rare ‘ .

We can vouch for this statement as this is only the 2nd or 3rd example of this badge which we have ever seen and listed over the last 1o years.

The badge is in well used condition – it will have seen very many thousands of miles during it’s very long life hanging from the ignitions of possibly several Jaguar cars.

The nickel plating has rubbed from the high areas of the badge to reveal the copper base metal below whilst the small area of black vitreous enamel is still bravely hanging in there although pock-marked after many years of swinging from those ignitions .

Times have changed dramatically as regards badges which are showing ‘patina ‘ like this one.

A few years ago customers would only consider mint condition badges – but now many actually prefer to have a badge like this one which has ‘had a life ‘and looks the part .

At some point the badge has been remounted onto a new dark tan leather keyfob – probably by the original owner who did not want to give up on his favourite keyring which had become a talisman after all those years of travelling with him in his Jaguar cars.

The ‘new’ keyfob is simply a piece of leather which has been crudely hand stitched and has covered a great many miles itself and has now become very worn and there is a split in the leather where it is doubled over where the splitring passes through – as can be seen in the enlarged high resolution photos.

We have seen these owner- remounted keyrings many times before and do much prefer to offer them just as they are as historic collector’s items- you are buying an irreplaceable piece of Jaguar history.

However we are happy to remount the badge onto a new leather keyfob of your choice within the listed price if that is what you would prefer .

A new keyfob in tan pigskin like one of the ones in Bud’s book would be rather nice and could extend the life of this badge for another 60 years.

Please let us know your preference at the time of ordering.

The keyring together with it’s leather keyfob is the actual one in the photos. SMOSO   00/573   08/21
