NOW SOLD – sorry this pin badge has now been sold and can no longer be ordered
It is not often that we list an item that we cannot identify with some certainty as regards date of production and place of manufacture – this pin badge is one of them !
A tiny item measuring just 18mm ( 0.7″) in diameter which came to us together with a couple of ( very expensive !) vintage Jaguar keyrings- we would assume it to be of a similar age as the keyrings which it accompanied ?
The badge is in a gilt plated finish with blue enamel – this is coach enamel ( not vitreous enamel ) and the badge is certainly in very good condition.
The Jaguar growler depicted in the badge is the image which we associate with Jaguar XK120 and bolder vendors than us would describe the badge as having been produced in the 1950s and intended to be worn by owners of Jaguar XK120 motor cars.
This could well be – in which case the badge is significantly more valuable than the price which we have listed it at !
However we do not have the evidence to support this and have never seen another badge like this one so have listed it with an honest description and a price which will give us a modest return on our outlay.
This could be the bargain of the decade ……………..!
The back of the badge has a ( sharp !) pin attached for the purpose of attaching the badge to the lapel of the wearer’s jacket – in the days when a Jaguar owner would be wearing a sports jacket and tie- and allowing owners of similar cars to recognise one another discretely .
Nowadays owners will likely be ‘dressed’ in a tee-shirt garishly printed with logos of their vehicle of choice proclaiming ownership ( or non ownership !! ) as the case may be.
The pin badge in the photos is the actual one which you will receive.
When it has been sold this listing will be cancelled. 00/58 ( 00/15 ) 09/20
