Original Vintage & Restored Leather Keyrings for Classic Cars & Motorcycles

Jaguar – original vintage early 1960s yellow border red growler keyring – collector’s item

NOW SOLD – sorry this keyring has now been sold and can no longer be ordered

An original vintage Jaguar keyring which will have been produced in the early 1960s.

When this keyring has been sold this listing will be cancelled.

An original Jaguar keyring which will date from the early 1960s.

The keyring is in good condition for it’s age with a vitreous enamel badge mounted onto a genuine burgundy leather keyfob .

The vitreous enamelling has lost some of it’s original high gloss but is intact without any enamel chips.

The yellow enamel is speckled with tiny dark marks which are only noticeable when viewed with a magnifying glass – quite usual for early light coloured vitreous enamel .

Some of the nickel plating has rubbed through to the copper base metal as can be seen in the enlarged high resolution listing photos.

The burgundy leather keyfob is in very good condition and is bonded together but has the impression of stitching around the edge.

Upon close examination the ‘stitching’ is actually printed into the leather to give the impression that the keyfob is stitched – this was common practice at the time with a ‘budget’ keyring such as this one – the quality of the vitreous enamelling and the standard of the leatherwork are not to the standards being achieved by manufacturers such as CUD at the time.

Nevertheless there was a market for slightly less expensive keyrings like this one for use with cars which were everyday drivers at the time.

Unlike many of CUD’s better quality products , keyrings like this one tended to be discarded when they became worn and consequently very few have survived – those few which have survived are now rare collector’s items.

Bud Marston terms this badge as ‘yellow border red growler ‘ – which we have described it as here .

Bud shows examples of original keyrings with this badge in his ‘Vintage Jaguar Keyrings’ book featured at the beginning of the Jaguar section in this website shop.

The keyring in the photos is the actual one which you will receive. SMOSO    00/943        08/21
