NOW SOLD – Sorry this keyring has now been sold and can no longer be ordered
An original Renamel Jaguar keyring dating from the late 1960s or very early 1970s – this is quite a find !
These keyrings were utility items which tended to be used and then became discarded – consequently very few have survived particularly in the condition of this one.
This keyring was made by Renamel Ltd of 10 Kilburn High Road London N.W.6 .
The keyring is in excellent condition – we have never seen one in as good condition before ( and we haven’t seen many )
The vitreous enamel badge is bonded onto a plated metal mount which is in turn mounted onto a navy blue vinyl keyfob with moulded ‘imitation’ stitching around the edge.
Renamel usually used acrylic domed badges on their keyrings but this one has a vitreous enamel badge which is almost certainly one which was made by Melsom Products of Birmingham.
Renamel must have been buying these badges in from Melsoms at the time- we have seen other Renamel keyrings for other makes of car with similar ‘Melsom’ vitreous enamel badges.
These Renamel keyrings are well documented in Bud Marston’s ‘Vintage Jaguar Keyrings’ book featured at the beginning of our Jaguar section in this website shop.
An identical keyring is shown in Bud’s book – but in tan vinyl and with an acrylic domed badge.
This keyring is a complete one-off which we have owned since 2011 and have only just decided to list it for sale.
Almost certainly you will never see another – as such it is an important historical item and far rarer ( and cheaper !) than the original Jaguar torpedo keyrings which collectors prize.
The keyring in the photos is the actual one which you will receive.
When it has been sold this listing will be cancelled. 00/571 01/20
