Jaguar XJ6 & XJ12 – original 1970s Manhattan Windsor forest green vitreous enamel on gilt badge remounted onto a new leather keyfob

NOW SOLD – sorry this keyring has now been sold and can no longer be ordered

An original Jaguar keyfob badge which will have been produced in the 1970s which we have remounted onto a new leather keyfob as can be seen in the photos.

We have just this one keyring with this badge to offer – when this keyring has been sold this listing will be cancelled.

We have just this one example of this keyring to offer with a forest green vitreous enamel on gilt badge which we have remounted onto a new keyfob in full grain black leather .

We have fitted a splitring in a similar ‘ antique gold’ plated finish to match the gilt plating on the badge .

The vitreous enamel badge is in superb condition as can be seen in the photos .

These badges were produced in the 1970s and were mounted onto leather keyfobs and it is known that some were issued with the Jaguar XJ6 in the mid 1970s .

A Jaguar authority in Sweden made contact some years ago to say that keyrings with these enamel badges were listed in the Jaguar parts list for use with Series II XJ6 ( 1974-1979 )

The part no. was BD 38585

Another Jaguar authority in New York has confirmed the above information and reports that these keyrings were also used as general Jaguar keyrings at that time in USA and were available from others as well as from Jaguar .

We are most grateful to these two authorities for the above information and also to Mr. Bud Marston in USA who has advised us on many of our Jaguar keyrings and advises that this keyring was also used with the Jaguar XJ12 .

In his book ‘Vintage Jaguar Keyrings’ ( featured at the beginning of our Jaguar section in this website ) which was published in Autumn 2018 – Bud describes this badge as the ‘XJ recessed growler’ on account of how the growler depiction is recessed into the surface of the badge .

In his book Bud refers to the badge as having been produced in black, green , grey & red enamel .

It is now some time since we last listed one of these badges .

The keyring was made by Manhattan Windsor of Birmingham who made so many classic Jaguar keyrings at the time .

The keyring in the photos is the actual one which you will receive. SMOSO   00/541  ( 00/321 )   10/24
