NOW SOLD – sorry this keyring has now been sold and can no longer be ordered
An extremely rare original Les Leston keyring dating from the 1960s – a keyring which is much sought after for adding to collections of vintage Jaguar keyrings.
Over the last 10 years we have listed just one other Les Leston keyring which had a Jaguar enamel badge mounted onto a keyfob branded with Les Leston’s Accessories double L logo.
This keyring is in excellent condition with a vitreous enamel badge mounted onto a keyfob in black faux leather.
Made by the famous Melsom Products Ltd of Birmingham whose details are cast into the back of the badge.
We would think that just one batch of 50 of these keyrings would have been produced all those years ago – keyrings were usually made in batches of 50.
Over the years almost all from that batch will now have been lost, worn out or simply discarded .
Les Leston was a larger than life character who served with the Royal Air Force in World War II as a gunner on a Lancaster bomber.
Not satisfied with having survived many near misses during the war he then embarked on a career as a racing driver starting out with racing a Jaguar SS100.
After many more near misses he started his famous Les Leston accessories business in 1958 supplying aftermarket steering wheels and gear knobs and also some keyrings- particularly with Jaguar in mind.
At the grand old age of 92 he died in 2012.
The keyring in the photos is the actual one which you will receive.
When it has been sold this listing will be cancelled. 00/941 09/20
