Maserati – original late 1960s/ 1970s badge remounted onto a new keyfob in tan pigskin leather

An original Maserati keyfob badge which will have been produced in the late 1960s or 1970s ( probably early 1970s ) which we have remounted onto a new tan pigskin leather keyfob as can be seen in the photos.

We have just this one keyring to offer – when this keyring with this badge has been sold this listing will be cancelled.

A nickel plated vitreous enamel Maserati keyfob badge which came to us still mounted onto the remains of it’s original leather keyfob but sadly that original keyfob was in a very poor condition so the badge had to be remounted onto a new keyfob .

Original Maserati keyfob badges of this age and in this condition are scarce items – the badge is in very good condition – the cobalt blue & translucent red vitreous enamelling is all intact with no chipping whatsoever .

The nickel plating has a rather attractive matt finish as a result of many years of use and many thousands of miles covered which has glazed the original highly polished finish.

The badge has ‘MADE IN ENGLAND ‘ cast into the reverse – in the 1960s & 1970s almost all automotive keyrings for the world’s cars were made in England – it was quite an industry .

We have remounted the badge onto a new keyfob in tan pigskin leather – pigskin leather was ( and is ) a luxurious material sometimes used for keyfobs ( usually for prestige cars ) in the 1960s and early 1970s .

Pigskin leather was always expensive and was prized for it’s appearance and hard wearing characteristics and was ideal for keyfobs which do receive a lot of handling .

Pigskin leather seems to be a thing of the past and very difficult to find in the grade needed for making keyfobs – the material which we have was sourced from a closed Midlands factory which had been using it for covering hip flasks and making wallets and keyrings .
