It is known that Mercedes Benz did occasionally offer keyrings in tan pigskin leather – so these badges have been mounted onto keyfobs in genuine tan pigskin leather .
Pigskin leather is a most up-market material which was sometimes used for special keyrings for prestige cars – the main one being Aston Martin who did make use of pigskin leather for some of their keyrings.
Prized for it’s appearance and also it’s durability which makes it ideal for keyfobs.
Pigskin leather is almost a material of the past – and it took us quite some time to locate a grade of genuine pigskin leather suitable for making a leather keyfob.
Suede & nubuck pigskin seems generally available but is totally unsuitable for keyring production – the pigskin leather which we eventually tracked down was from a manufacturer of hipflasks who had closed down. The pigskin leather had been used to cover leather panels on the hipflasks.
