NOW SOLD – sorry this keyring has now been sold and can no longer be ordered
What a superb badge this is – an original vitreous enamel on gilt badge dating from the 1960s and in mint condition – but looking every year of it’s age at the same time.
It must be one of the most striking original Mercedes Benz keyfob badges which we have ever listed and is offered remounted onto a new leather keyfob in full grain black leather as can be seen in the photos.
We have become very well known for remounting original vintage keyfob badges onto new leather keyfobs of the correct pattern so that the badge can continue in use into this 21st Century.
These old enamel on gilt badges seem to mellow with age in a way that chrome & nickel plated badges never do- this is something which only comes with age and could never be artificially replicated.
The depth of the translucent blue enamel cannot be appreciated from the photos – the stippled ground beneath the enamel shines through the enamel like the bed of the ocean.
The badge will have been made by one of the Birmingham badgemakers at the time – there were dozens of them leaving only 2 or 3 still in business today.
Almost all keyrings for British, European & American cars were made in Birmingham in the 1960s – it was quite an industry.
This badge is original & correct for any 1960s Mercedes Benz motor car – or could be used as a ‘retro’ keyring in a much later car.
The keyring in the photos is the actual one which you will receive.
When this keyring has been sold then this listing will cancel. 00/59 06/20
