Original Mercedes Benz  keyrings which will have been produced in the late 1950s .

When both of these keyrings have been sold this listing will be cancelled .

We have just two of these original vintage Mercedes Benz keyrings which will have been produced in the late 1950s.

They are new old stock items and will have been in storage for the last 60 years – ‘time warp’ is a term very loosely applied nowadays but perfectly describes these 2 incredible keyrings .

These are the only 2 examples of this design which we have seen over the last 10 years .

Being new old stock – both keyrings are in mint condition with beautifully made vitreous enamel badges mounted onto keyfobs in genuine Royal blue full grain leather .

Beneath the badge is a circular cut-out in the leather keyfob with a waxed card insert – the idea of this was that the registration no. of the car could be written there ………………….

Nowadays we would regard this as an invitation to theft of the car if the keys were lost – it was a very different world in the 1950s .

‘MP’ is cast into the back of the badges – so small that it can hardly be seen – can just be see in the enlarged high resolution listing photos .

We think that this could relate to ‘Manhattan Products’ in which case these will be some of the very first keyrings which Manhattan ever made – they became the biggest manufacturers of automotive keyrings in the world from the late 1970s right through to the early 2000s trading as Manhattan Windsor of Birmingham.

Right from the earliest car keyrings which appeared in the mid 1950s until the late 1980s almost all automotive keyrings were made in England – it was quite an industry.

These keyrings are original & correct for use with any 1950s or early 1960s Mercedes Benz motor car.

When both keyrings have been sold this listing will be cancelled and we would regard these 2 keyrings as being a couple of the most important Mercedes Benz keyrings which we have ever listed .
