Mercedes Benz – original vintage new old stock 1980s? ‘golden star’ keyring

An original Mercedes Benz ‘Golden Star’ keyring which we would date as having been produced in the 1980s .

We have just this one example of this keyring to offer – when this keyring has been sold this listing will be cancelled .

We did recently list & sell a very similar keyring similarly not marked with the maker’s name ( although it would have also been made by Manhattan Windsor )

We would think that this keyring dates from the 1980s and features the classic Mercedes Benz golden star.

The keyring is new old stock and is still mounted onto the original Manhattan Windsor sales card as can be seen in the photos .

The gilt plated badge is mounted onto a keyfob in genuine full grain black leather gold embossed ‘TOP GRAIN LEATHER’ .

It is unusual to find one of these keyrings in this new old stock condition still on it’s original sales card as Mercedes Benz keyrings tended to receive a lot of use – just as the cars themselves did at that time.

Mercedes Benz cars were not bought at that time to be left in the garage !

The keyring will have been made by Manhattan Windsor of Birmingham although it is not marked as such .

They were the only manufacturer producing these ‘Golden Star’ keyrings .

Manhattan Windsor were the principal UK manufacturer of automotive keyrings at that time and the quality of their keyrings has never been equalled since .

At that time almost all keyrings for the world’s cars were made in Birmingham  – it was quite an industry.
