Mercedes Benz – vitreous enamel badge mounted onto a new leather keyfob in Navy blue leather

A couple of relatively new vitreous enamel Mercedes Benz keyfob badges which will have been produced in Birmingham within the last few years which we have mounted onto new leather keyfobs in Navy blue leather as can be seen in the photos .

These are NOT original vintage badges – they will have been produced just a few years ago and are not to be confused with original vintage badges from the 1970s – these badges were made much later.

We are currently offering just these two keyrings with these badges  – when both keyrings have been sold this listing will be cancelled.

We used to occasionally see vitreous enamel Mercedes Benz badges like these a few years ago – but they now seem scarce and these are the only ones which we have received recently .

They are virtually identical to vitreous enamel badges which were produced by Caxton of Kew and issued on Mercedes Benz dealership keyrings and were probably produced from the same dies.

An example of one of the original Caxton rectangular dealership keyrings with this badge is shown in the final listing photo – in Navy blue leather .

Caxtons produced keyrings for Mercedes Benz dealerships and generally mounted them onto keyfobs in Navy blue leather which Mercedes Benz seemed to favour at the time .

The superb quality ‘old school’ vitreous enamel badges mounted onto the keyrings in this listing were available up until quite recently .

They have the well known translucent blue enamel over a granulated ground producing an almost glittering effect .

We have remounted both badges onto new leather keyfobs in Navy blue leather – to carry the tradition on .

Sadly vitreous enamel badges like these are apparently no longer produced in England .

New reproduction badges will now usually be produced in modern resin based enamel – not vitreous enamel like these – and are most unlikely to have been produced in England .

Maybe one day in the future beautiful quality vitreous enamel badges like these will once again be made in England ……………………..but the areas where the workshops once stood have now generally been built over with housing estates and the craftsmen with their knowledge and skills have gone
