MG keyring key ring keyfob key fob keychain
Once again our thanks were due to our friend ( and keyfob badge consultant ! ) the late Roger Kemplay of Boston – who never threw anything away !
In 1959 he bought an MG J2 from the Speedway Garage in Ruskington in Lincolnshire.
The car is long gone – but Roger still had the keyring which was on the key in the ignition when he bought the car.
The badge from that keyring can be seen on the ‘examples of original keyrings’ page of the GALLERY on this website.
Our enamel badge is a perfect and faithful replica of the badge which was on that keyfob featuring the famous MG octagon in vitreous enamelling in translucent red and old white.
Originally made by London badgemakers R.Sculthorpe.
Roger’s ‘J’ type MG was obviously earlier than the 1950s – but keyrings were not generally available until the 1950s.
The original owner had probably bought his keyring in the 1950s and added it to the key of his J2 at that stage.
This would be a worthy addition to your ‘J’ type or ‘T’ type or other early MG and is date correct for 1950s MG motor cars.
The badge is a little small to be ordered on our standard teardrop shape – so we have restricted the choice to slimline teardrop or classic rectangular keyfob shape. All of our leather colours can be specified.
This badge mounted onto a slimline teardrop keyfob has to be the most popular keyring that we sell !
Literally hundreds have gone all over the world- and here’s what Ian in United Kingdom has just said about his –
” Many thanks for the MG keyrings – they are great & the quality is obvious. The 1950s octagon period fob looks just right in the ignition of my MGTD replacing a well worn 40 year old Ostrich skin item dating from a spell working in Africa “
