NOW SOLD – sorry this keyring has now been sold and can no longer be ordered
A rare original MG torpedo keyring dating from the 1950s and correct for use with any MG motor car of that period.
These torpedo keyrings were the very first keyrings which became available for use with MG cars ( car keyrings only became available in the mid 1950s ) and were bought at the time to be used with an earlier car particularly MG TD & MG TF .
Made by Castles Unit Development Co. of Leicester – the famous ‘CUD Co.’
Castles were responsible for producing the first automotive keyrings always with this distinctive torpedo keyfob shape.
By the late 1960s Castles and their torpedo keyrings had disappeared – being replaced by other manufacturers making keyrings in the style which we are used to today.
The keyring is in superb condition with the vitreous enamel badge mounted onto a torpedo keyfob in genuine black goatskin leather – we know that it is goatskin as that is what CUD used at the time and goatskin has a distinctive light ‘pebbly’ appearance.
This particular keyring is the very best example of an MG CUD torpedo keyring which we have ever listed over the last 10 years- we very much doubt if you will ever find a better example.
It will be the perfect addition to any TD or TF .
The keyring in the photos is the actual one which you will receive.
When it has been sold this listing will be cancelled.
If our friend Russ Baer in Maryland USA is reading this – we would like to point out that this is not the torpedo keyring which came with his TD which he so kindly gave us for our reference collection !
That keyring is being kept safely for future reference & is not for sale ! 00/521 12/20
