NOW SOLD – sorry this keyring has now been sold and can no longer be ordered
Probably the oldest original MG keyring which we have ever listed – this keyring will have been produced in the mid to late 1950s.
Car keyrings did not come into general use until the late 1950s and this particular keyring will be one of the earliest ever produced,
It is the only example which we have ever listed – hardly any will have survived over the 60 + year period.
These are tiny items and easily lost – and were often replaced by newer keyrings when leather backed keyrings became available .
The keychain is in good condition with a jewellery grade vitreous enamel badge bonded to an oval nickel plated plate which is attached to a clasp by means of a couple of links of simple chain.
The clasp opens & shuts as it should to safely retain any keys attached to it.
A small item with the oval badge measuring just 30mm ( 1.25″) in width.
This keyring is not just ‘correct’ for use with a mid to late 1950s MG motor car…………what happened in practice is that owners of much older cars bought a keyring to use with their car when keyrings became available.
So this keyring would actually be ‘correct’ for using with any mid 1930s onwards MG motor car provided the car has an ignition key !
The keyring in the photos is the actual one which you will receive.
When it has been sold this listing will be cancelled. 00/57 06/20
