Original Vintage & Restored Leather Keyrings for Classic Cars & Motorcycles

Leyland Mini Clubman - original 1970s melsom badge remounted onto a new leather keyfob

NOW SOLD – sorry this keyring has now been sold and can no longer be ordered

An original vitreous enamel Mini Clubman keyfob badge which will have been produced in the 1970s which we have remounted onto a new leather keyfob as can be seen in the photos.

We have just this one keyring with this badge to offer  – when it has been sold this listing will be cancelled.

The first BMC Minis were badged as either Austin or Morris but from the Mark III variant from 1969 onwards was launched as a marque in it’s own right .

Keyrings for the earlier Austin & Morris minis can be found in the Austin & Morris sections of this online shop.

This keyring has an original 1969 -1975 Mini Clubman keyfob badge which we have remounted onto a new keyfob in black leather as can be seen in the photos.

The badge is in good used condition and was made in the 1970s by Melsom Products Ltd of Birmingham ( their details are cast into the back of the badge) .

Some of the nickel plating at the edge of the badge and on the back of the badge has disappeared with use – this can be seen in the enlarged high resolution photos but mainly cannot be seen unless the badge is flipped up off the leather keyfob of course .

One of our customers is an authority on Minis and has been in contact to tell us that strictly speaking the Mini Clubman badge had a longer blue shield and that this badge was also used for Mini Mark 3 and Clubman in the 1970s.

We would think that in common with other manufacturers – Melsom chose to use a shortened version of the shield probably because it fitted within a circular keyfob badge better .

He goes on to say that in the Austin and Morris era, there were various models of minis produced, such as Cooper, Cooper S and etc… but they are mostly put together in the BMLC era.

He thinks that badges like this one will be correct for all the Minis produced in 70s BLMC era.

This badge design was used on the Clubman but other minis produced at that time also had it.

All very confusing to us – thank goodness we have customers who know a lot more about the cars than we do !

The keyring in the photos is the actual one which you will receive . SMOSO  59/93   02/24
