NOW SOLD – sorry both of these keyrings have now been sold and can no longer be ordered
A very rare keyring and like London buses never appear – but when they finally do then two arrive together !
We do have a couple of these keyrings to offer but doubt if we will see many more when these two have been sold as these are the only two examples which we have seen over the last 10 years.
These will have been made by one of the many small badgemaking concerns which were in Birmingham in the middle of the last century.
Early keyrings like these started to appear in the mid 1950s.
By the early 1960s keyring design had universally moved to a badge mounted onto a leather keyfob – much as we still offer today.
These two keyrings have a gilt badge with vitreous enamelling mounted onto a small ‘shield’ with an ornate gilt plated border.
The front and rear face of the ‘shield’ is painstakingly covered with genuine tan pigskin.
The shield is in turn connected to the ‘keep’ onto which the car key is fixed.
Both keyrings are in superb condition – probably new old stock and have never been used.
Either of these keyrings would be the final ‘cherry on the cake’ if used in a 1950s Morris motor car- or would be the perfect present for the Morris enthusiast.
When both keyrings have been sold then this listing will cancel. 59/43 01/21
