Original 1960s chequered flags green vitreous enamel gilt badge remounted onto a new leather keyfob

An original vitreous enamel keyfob badge which will have been produced in the 1960s which we have remounted onto a new leather keyfob as can be seen in the photos .

We have just this one keyring with this badge to offer – when it has been sold this listing will be cancelled .

What a lovely badge !

This gilt plated badge is in superb condition and depicts the crossed chequered flags on a background of deep lustrous hand laid jewellery quality vitreous enamel .

This badge could have been originally mounted onto a leather keyfob embossed with the double L ( LL ) motif of Les Leston – this crossed flag badge design was one of his favourites and we have seen an identical badge of this quality mounted onto a keyfob embossed LL before – but as the original leather keyfob has long since disappeared we shall never know for sure .

Whether produced by Les Leston or not ( and we have to assume not ) the badge was produced at a settled time in the history of motoring when all was well .

We have remounted the badge onto a new keyfob in full grain black leather so that the crossed flags can continue to flutter in the winds of change which await in the years ahead .
