Original vintage 1960s Henlys enamel dealership badge by P.R. Bradbury remounted onto new leather keyfob - collector's item

NOW SOLD – sorry this keyring has now been sold and can no longer be ordered

This keyring has an original vintage vitreous enamel Henlys dealership badge dating from the 1960s.

The badge came to us still mounted onto it’s original leather keyfob which was in very poor condition .

In that case we are offering the badge remounted onto a new leather keyfob which we have copied exactly from the original and hand cut especially for this badge.

The sharp-eyed amongst you will notice that this keyfob is very similar to our slimline teardrop keyfob shape but is slightly wider at the neck with one extra stitch.

These badges are very scarce – particularly when in excellent condition like this one. Even a couple of badly damaged badges have recently fetched around £50 each on an online auction site.

This particular badge is in really excellent condition – ( most are quite badly damaged and almost all that we have seen have enamel chips missing from the 2 bottom sharp corners of the badge )

The badge dates from the 1960s and was made by Bradburys of Birmingham.

Henlys generally had their badges made by P.R.Bradbury or Fattorini – both in Birmingham.

Also – many Henlys badges did not have the maker’s name on them.

The photo of two Henlys badges side by side ( neither of these badges are the badge offered for sale in this listing ) shows the two styles in which these badges were made. The difference is that the St. Christopher ( patron saint of travellers ) detail is beneath the enamel in the second badge on the right. The example on the left has the St. Christopher detail without enamel covering it .

This badge in this listing has enamel covering the St.Christopher detail.

Henlys  Jaguar / Rover  dealership was founded in 1947 by Herbert Henly. The original premises gave its name to Henlys Corner on the North Circular Road in London and also Henlys Roundabout in Hounslow.

Goodness knows how many Jaguars passed through the dealership in the 1950s and 1960s.

This original remounted badge will be a subtle & correct addition to any Jaguar vehicle from the time and we cannot think of a better ( or cheaper ) addition which would give the same impact.

On a cautionary note – we have recently been shown a ‘Henlys keyring’ bought from an online auction site. This was a very passable reproduction although the ‘St. Christopher’ lettering was not as precise as the originals.

The enamelling was in modern ‘hard’ enamel which is resin based – not in vitreous enamel like this badge.

We have no plans to offer a reproduction Henlys keyring – the name is subject to licensing restrictions.

Any Henlys keyring which is offered by us will have an original badge dating from the period.

It is some time since we offered a keyring with an original Henlys badge in this condition – unusually we currently have another example listed as well ( unless now sold )

The keyring in the photos is the actual keyring which you will receive. When it has been sold – this listing will cancel. 00/591      04/20
