NOW SOLD – sorry this keyring has now been sold and can no longer be ordered
An original Porsche keyfob badge of a design and production quality which we have never come across before !
The badge is actually in very good condition with vitreous enamelling on a gilt base.
In the 1960s these badges generally had hand laid vitreous enamel which was variable to a degree – but not usually to this degree !
The enamelling looks like marmalade with dollops of red and black enamel added ( in all the correct places it has to be said ) for good measure !
To top it all off………….the bottom tip of the badge is slightly bent upwards which will have been the case since then badge was made as any attempt to flatten it out subsequently would have resulted in cracking the enamel.
Not as big a mystery as it may seem……………………
In the 1960s almost all keyrings for the world’s cars were made in England and Porsche was a rare marque on British roads with few manufacturers bothering to make a keyring for Porsche when they could be making keyrings for Jaguars and other cars which were selling in many thousands.
This badge was probably an attempt by one of the badgemakers to produce a Porsche keyring and could be an initial one-off which then never reached production.
A die was made and coloured in with vitreous enamel but that is as far as the badgemaker ever got with making Porsche keyrings.
We shall never know – but meanwhile this keyring has to be the rarest Porsche keyring of all time and could be priceless in years to come ??
Definitely a keyring for the speculator.
The keyring in the photos is the actual one which you will receive.
When it has been sold this listing will be cancelled. 00/59 05/20
