Porsche – original new old stock 1990s? keyring with a vitreous enamel badge & genuine black leather keyfob

A Porsche keyring which is difficult to date as these riveted keyrings were produced from the 1980s up until relatively recently .

We would think that this one will have been produced in the 1990s .

We have just this one example of this keyring with a black leather keyfob to offer – when this keyring has been sold this listing will be cancelled .

The main feature of this keyring is the lovely jewellery quality vitreous enamel badge – so much nicer than the badges in ‘ modern ‘ resin based enamel which are produced these days .

This keyring is in brand new condition with the vitreous enamel badge mounted onto a keyfob in genuine black leather – this keyring does resemble many ‘budget’ keyrings produced in the early 2000s but has been produced in rather better materials than them .

The badge is mounted onto the keyfob by means of an aluminium rivet securing the badge loop – this method of keyring construction carried on through the late 1980s into the early 2000s but the keyfobs were invariably produced in imitation leather ………….the unusual thing is that this keyring actually has a keyfob in genuine leather so may be an early version before the inevitable economies of production were applied .

The imitation leather ( faux leather) keyfobs usually had a British patent no. stamped into the keyfob beneath the badge – this one hasn’t .

Additionally  ‘ MADE IN ENGLAND ‘ was often marked on the reverse of the badges -the back of this badge is plain .

Almost certainly this keyring would have been made in Birmingham and is an example of one of the last good quality car keyrings being produced in England .

Some keyrings for the world’s cars were still being made in England in the 1990s although that was changing fast and keyrings made much after that may no longer have a vitreous enamel badge and are sadly unlikely to have been made in England .
