Porsche - original vintage 1990s vitreous enamel Porsche crest shield keyring with dark grey leather keyfob

NOW SOLD – sorry this keyring has now been sold and can no longer be ordered

These original Porsche crest keyrings have now become very sought after particularly if in good condition and in grey leather like this one.

Gone are the days when Porsche keyrings like these could be had for a song even when in good condition – there are plenty of scruffy ones to be had on ebay etc.

Similar keyrings ( if you are lucky enough to find them ) could be even more expensive in the future as interest in vintage Porsche keyrings continues to grow.

The keyring in this listing is in good used condition and would be the ideal candidate for putting back into everyday use – it is in good serviceable condition.

Some that we list are rather too good for that purpose.

This keyring is a used example but the vitreous enamel badge is perfect with no enamel issues whatsover- this is the most important thing of all.

As always happens – the ‘whiff’ of gilt plating originally applied to the raised parts of the badge has disappeared to reveal a pleasing bright nickel plated finish.

The badge is mounted onto a keyfob in genuine dark grey leather with plenty of the trademark ‘plumping’ effect within the keyfob.

The leather keyfob is in very good condition and the only criticism we can level at it is that the little leather strap which retains the badge onto the keyfob is rather ‘skinny’ and allows the badge to slide from side to side – a criticism that we can level at a lot of these original Porsche shield keyrings.

It is difficult to date these keyrings exactly as they had a long period of issue but we are advised by one of our customers in Germany that examples like these will most likely date from the 1990s – we are very grateful for his input.

The keyfobs were usually in black leather and occasionally in grey leather which understandably are much more sought after – this one is in dark grey leather .

Made in genuine leather – not imitation leather which Porsche now uses for their keyrings.

A characteristic of these Porsche keyfobs was the amount of internal padding which was used to plump the keyfob up. Each one has this ‘padded cushion’ effect .

The splitrings fitted to these keyrings are usually rather too large to our eyes- but that is how most of them were.

Unusually we have currently got 3 of these keyrings to offer here in the website shop ( unless now sold )– prior to that we didn’t have one for many months.

Mint examples are very rare and do command a premium over used examples- we do currently have a couple of mint examples ( unless now sold )

Original examples of these keyrings do appear on internet auction sites from time to time but never seem to be offered in particularly good condition ( please do not confuse them with the modern imitation leather replicas with badges stuck onto the fob with araldite which abound on ebay ! )

Even when in poor condition these original Porsche crest keyrings with the hinged badge ( in black leather ) now routinely sell for around £75 each on internet auction sites – sometimes even more when 2 or 3 keen bidders are involved.

A well used one in black leather appeared on ebay recently located in Australia priced at well over £300 !

We do not know if it actually sold.

Over the last 3 years the price of classic Porsche motor cars has risen dramatically before finally levelling out – this has been reflected in the demand for original keyrings to accompany those cars . The value of the keyrings has also risen accordingly and we are now having to pay very high prices in order to put good quality original Porsche keyrings like this one into stock. You will notice that this website shop seldom has many to offer !

The keyring in the photos is the actual one which you will receive.

When it has been sold this listing will be cancelled. 00/59    12/20
