Porsche – original vintage early vitreous enamel ‘heubach’ hinged crest keyring with black leather keyfob in used condition

NOW SOLD – sorry this keyring has now been sold and can no longer be ordered

An original Porsche keyring which will have been produced in the 1980s .

Just this one used condition keyring to offer – when it has been sold this listing will be cancelled.

These original Porsche ‘heubach’ hinged crest keyrings are original & correct for use with a wide range of Porsche cars – but finding keyrings in good serviceable condition is becoming a challenge.

This keyring is in black leather and is in used condition – these keyrings were actually supplied to be used rather than to be stored away to become collector’s items in 40 years time !

This keyring is in excellent serviceable condition and would be ideal for actually using in a car of a similar age – particularly a car which has not been over restored .

The vitreous enamel badge has vitreous enamel in perfect condition although the thin ‘whiff’ of gilt plating originally applied has long since worn away to reveal bright nickel .

The shape of the leather keyfob has a slightly stubbier shield shape than the later ‘heubach’ keyrings – a very small detail but noticeable when you have seen a few of the later keyrings .

These earlier 1980s ‘heubach’ keyrings with this stubbier shape do not often appear – presumably because they were produced a few years earlier and have had longer to wear out.

Additionally the later ‘heubach’ keyrings were produced at a time when the cars tended to be receiving more careful use – those keyrings enjoyed the same level of care !

The earlier cars were often daily drivers at a time when owners just had the one car and not a ‘go to work’ car and also a weekend car !

The leather and the stitching are in excellent shape and the leather has attained that degree of polish and patination which only comes after years of use.

There is a world of difference between a carefully used keyring like this one and one which has been roughly used with chipped enamel & damaged leather .

The keyring has the internal ‘plumping’ which all these ‘heubach’ keyrings had.

Many customers do prefer a keyring which has ‘ had a life’ like this one rather than a mint new old stock item .

We very much agree with this preference but of course it is ‘horses for courses ‘- this keyring would look out of place in a newly restored or superb original condition car.

These original ‘heubach’ Porsche crest keyrings with a vitreous enamel badge hinged onto a genuine leather keyfob with a little leather strap have now become very sought after .

The keyrings were produced with a black or slate grey leather keyfob – those in slate grey leather are considered to be more collectible although the black leather version could have been produced slightly earlier- like this example.

Please do not confuse these keyrings with the modern Porsche keyrings with the badge bonded ( not hinged ) onto the surface of the keyfob

It is difficult to date these keyrings exactly as they had a long period of issue but we are advised by one of our customers in Germany that examples in slate grey leather will most probably date from the 1990s – we are grateful for his input.

Keyrings like this one will be original & correct for use with 1980s 911 SCs & Carrera 3.2s , together with early Carrera 964 and also 928, 994, 968 and early Boxster .

Original examples of these keyrings do appear on internet auction sites from time to time and sometimes at exorbitant prices – but rarely in particularly good condition .

Over the last 3 years the price of classic Porsche motor cars has risen before finally levelling out -this has been reflected in the demand for original keyrings like these to accompany those cars.

The keyring in the photos is the actual one which you will receive. SMOSO   00/531      11/22
