Porsche - original vintage new old stock 1960s/ early 1970s Craftsman ( CUD ) torpedo keyring - collector's item

NOW SOLD – sorry both of these keyrings have now been sold and can no longer be ordered

Two original Porsche torpedo keyrings which will have been produced in the late 1960s or very early 1970s.

We have just these two examples to offer .

The value of early original Porsche keyrings such as these examples has shot up over the last 2 or 3 years in line with the value of the early cars themselves .

Substantial sums now have to be paid in order to be in a position to be able to offer items like these two keyrings – which is reflected in the listing price .

Previously we have only ever listed a couple of these original Porsche Craftsman torpedo keyrings in our website shop – both of which were sold some time ago .

Now we are listing two more .

Both of these original torpedo keyrings are new old stock and are in virtually mint condition apart from the slightest of storage marks where the enamel badge has rested on the leather keyfob beneath .

Original Porsche torpedo keyrings like these are much rarer and more valuable than original Jaguar torpedo keyrings .

The Jaguar keyrings are now so valuable and collectible that Bud Marston in USA has written a book entitled ‘Vintage Jaguar keyrings’ which is featured at the start of our Jaguar section here in this website shop.

These particular torpedo keyrings were made by Craftsman – Castles Unit Developments Ltd of Castle Gate, Leicester ( CUD ) appear to have changed their name to Craftsman in the late 1960s – and an American connection has been rumoured but never substantiated.

The reverse of the badges on these two keyrings is marked ‘Craftsman’ which indicates that these particular keyrings will have been produced in the late 1960s or very early 1970s .

A similar keyring marked ‘CUD’ would have been produced in the period dating from the mid to late 1960s .

CUD were the only manufacturers of torpedo keyrings and were famous in the late 1950s and right through the 1960s for the quality of their products which were exported worldwide.

At that time almost all keyrings for the world’s motor cars were made in England – it was quite an industry.

Porsche motor cars were rare on British roads in the 1960s and consequently British keyring manufacturers did not make many keyrings for use Porsche cars.

The vitreous enamel badges on these keyrings are in jewellery quality vitreous enamel – they are of the very highest quality .

The badges are mounted onto torpedo keyfobs in genuine hide embossed ‘REAL MOROCCO – Made in England’.

Morocco leather was a term for goatskin leather – and the pebbly grain of the leather shows that these particular torpedo keyfobs are in genuine goatskin.

These keyrings will be original & correct for use with 1965 – 1969 Porsche 912 and 1966 onwards 1966 – 1973 Porsche 911 & 911S .
