A characteristic of these Porsche keyfobs was the amount of internal padding which was used to plump the keyfob up. Each one has this ‘padded cushion’ effect.
The splitrings fitted to these keyrings are usually rather too large to our eyes.
This one is fitted with a splitring of a size much more in keeping with the size of the keyring- the splitring has a slightly corrugated finish which is something which we have seen on splitrings of this period.
Unusually we have recently had a couple of these keyrings to offer here in the website shop ( but in black leather ) – prior to that we didn’t have one for many months.
Mint examples are very rare and do command a premium over used examples- we do currently have a used example listed ( unless now sold )
Original examples of these keyrings do appear on internet auction sites from time to time but never seem to be offered in particularly good condition ( please do not confuse them with the modern imitation leather replicas with badges stuck onto the fob with araldite which abound on ebay ! )
Even when in poor condition these original Porsche crest keyrings with the hinged badge ( in black leather ) now routinely sell for around £75 each on internet auction sites – sometimes even more when 2 or 3 keen bidders are involved.
A well used one in black leather appeared on ebay recently located in Australia priced at well over £300 !
We do not know if it actually sold.
Over the last 3 years the price of classic Porsche motor cars has risen dramatically before finally levelling out – this has been reflected in the demand for original keyrings to accompany those cars . The value of the keyrings has also risen accordingly and we are now having to pay very high prices in order to put good quality original Porsche keyrings like this one into stock. You will notice that this website shop seldom has many to offer !
The keyring in the photos is the actual one which you will receive.
When it has been sold this listing will be cancelled.
