NOW SOLD – sorry this keyring has now been sold and can no longer be ordered
An original Rolls Royce dealership keyring which will have been supplied with a Rolls Royce motor car sold by the H.A.Fox Torquay dealership in the 1970s.
H.A. Fox was a well respected Rolls Royce dealer with a history spanning many decades up until 2018 when Inchcape took over.
This keyring is in excellent condition and can hardly have been used.
The nickel plated badge with vitreous enamel detail is mounted onto a genuine black leather torpedo keyfob of generous thickness gold embossed on the back with H.A.Fox’s details.
Inspection of the back of the badge reveals the maker of the keyring – Caxton of Kew who produced keyrings of the highest quality and have sadly now been closed for many years.
It would seem that Fox’s spared no expense in having their keyrings produced as Caxton of Kew were never cheap – what a contrast to run-of-the-mill car dealership keyrings handed out today ( if you are lucky ) produced of plastic & resin .
It is interesting to note that the torpedo keyfob shape as popularised by Castles Unit Developments of Leicester ( CUD ) passed out of favour in the late 1960s and was quickly replaced by the teardrop & rectangular keyfob shapes still in use today.
This old established Rolls Royce dealership clung onto the keyring shape which it had supplied it’s customers with for many years and persisted in supplying a torpedo keyring right into the 1970s.
Sadly new ideas eventually replace the time tested & trusted methods of the past and Caxtons were probably the last manufacturer still able to fulfil Fox’s requirements.
The keyring in the photos is the actual one which you will receive and would be a splendid addition to a motor car known to have been supplied by Fox’s – or to any other 1970s Rolls Royce for that matter.
When it has been sold this listing will be cancelled. 00/58 05/20
