NOW SOLD – sorry this keyring has now been sold and can no longer be ordered
An original Rolls Royce keychain which will have been produced in the mid to late 1950s.
At that time keyrings were only just starting to be produced for motor cars and not all had badges mounted onto leather keyfobs – many were produced as keychains like this example.
These keychains pre-dated the torpedo keyrings which appeared 2 or 3 years later.
The nickel plated badge measures just over 1″ x 3/4″ ( 28mm x 18mm ) and has black vitreous enamel detail.
It is in excellent condition and is marked on the back with a mysterious letter ‘B’ within an oval together with a smaller letter ‘C’ within a circle.
We have seen this on the back of keyfob badges before ( usually vintage Jaguar ones ) and have never discovered the relevance of the markings.
Bud Marston in Virginia, USA who wrote the book ‘Vintage Jaguar keyrings’ which is featured at the beginning of our Jaguar section here in this website shop has agonised over this mark – but never discovered who the maker of the badges was.
He wondered if the ‘C’ within a circle related to ‘copywrite’ – but never found out.
We doubt if the answer will ever be found .
The badge has a nickel plated ‘snakechain’ – all in excellent condition – which is connected to the splitring for attaching the car keys.
The splitring is in new condition and whilst being of a quality no longer available may have been replaced at some point a couple of decades ago.
This keychain is original & correct for use with any 1950s or 1960s Rolls Royce motor car .
The keychain in the photos is the actual one which you will receive.
When it has been sold this listing will be cancelled. 00/58 01/21
